Earlier this month, President Obama announced that he will once again attempt to bypass Congress and implement a number of gun controls and restrictions.
I have taken a stand against the President’s power grab, and I will continue to use my position as Chairman of the Commerce, Justice and Science (CJS) Appropriations Subcommittee to defund and stop the President’s proposed executive actions.
Yesterday, I wrote to Thomas Brandon, Deputy Director, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) requesting clarification and reassurance for the American public that ATF’s newly published firearms guidance will not impact hobbyists and collectors engaged in routine and lawful transfers. Read my letter to ATF Deputy Director Brandon here.
As your representative, I pledge to you that I will meticulously review both ATF’s and the Department of Justice’s proposed spending plans. I will not provide any funding or resources to implement any unlawful limitations on the Second Amendment rights of Americans.
It is an honor and a privilege to represent you and Texas in the United States Congress.
