ONE MILLION JOBS? 

Today the Administration claimed that the $1 trillion “stimulus” created or saved “about one million jobs in the first seven months.”  I am stunned the administration would turn a blind eye to the nearly three million Americans who have lost their jobs since President Obama signed the stimulus into law.  

 

Over the past seven months, the unemployment rate has risen to 9.8%, which is 22.5% higher than the ceiling arbitrarily set by President Obama. The White House projects that the stimulus will create 269,000 jobs in Texas by 2010.  To date, our state has lost 178,600 jobs. It is clear that their reckless spending and big government policies have failed.

 

I believe it is time to let Americans keep more of what they earn and for the government to spend less.  It is time to start trusting and empowering individual Americans instead of the federal government.  By taking these steps, our economy will see the growth and prosperity that have defined America for generations.
